Performing Ensembles
At Townsend Jr. High School, we are very excited to offer these extra Performing Ensembles!
Marching Band
The Marching Band is largest of our after school performing ensembles. All students from beginners to advanced participate in the Marching Band. Members of the Marching Band participate at Chino Hills High School Football games, local parades, the Laguna Beach Patriot's Day parade and have been a featured performer in the Disneyland Parade since 2008.
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the cornerstone of the Townsend Instrumental Music Program. This by audition ensemble performs above grade level Wind Ensemble literature. In 2013, the Wind Ensemble received Unanimous Superior ratings at the SCJA Don Lugo Concert Band Festival, SCSBOA Santiago Concert Band Festival which allowed the ensemble to perform at the Kennedy Performing Arts Center at the SCSBOA Regional Festival, receiving a Superior Rating.

Indoor Drumline
The Indoor Drumline is the 2014 & 2015 SCPA PSJ Bronze Medalist, the 2013 Silver Medalist, and the 2010 SCPA PSJ Gold Medalist and a four time ADLA Gold Medalist. Instruction for the unit is comprised of the Instruction Staff from the 3 time, WGI PSW World Champion Chino Hills High School.

Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is the 2015 Riverside City College Jazz Festival Gold Medalist and the 2014 Silver Medalist. The Jazz Band gigs all over Southern California and has performed at such venues as the Hip Kitty Jazz Club in Claremont, CA as well as the 2013 California Distinguished Schools Awards Ceremony in Irvine, CA.
Color Guard
The Color Guard is the 2013 WGASC Regional AA Silver Medalist, the 2011 WGASC Regional A Gold Medalist. The Music Department took over the Color Guard in 2011 and since that time, the guard has placed no lower than 3rd. Instruction for the unit is comprised of the Instructional Staff from Chino Hills High School.
Drum Major
Our Drum Major's also compete in multiple circuits in Southern California. In just one year, these talented students learn a routine and compete against other Drum Majors. Since 2009, our Drum Majors have won 2 State Championships and have gone on to compete in World Class competition.
